Why do you want to be a Scanner?:
I'm searching for a more active role on the server, Scanner is also my favourite whitelist as I love how helpful you can be, acting a sort of mobile CCTV camera and ratting out no-gooders. Every time I caught someone I would always say "Busted." to myself as I call the MPF to go get them.
What experience, if any, do you have as a scanner?:
I have been Scanner before. It was only once but it was for around three months. I was an admin on a server that is gone now, but I had most whitelists there. I was commonly regarded as a helpful Scanner as I knew what I was doing, but you'll just have to take my word for that.
Why can you be trusted as one?:
I have plenty experience in the role and have had good rep among the players I RP'd as Scanner with. While it was while ago (A year ago) and I may be a bit rusty, I can still pick it up again.
If you are attacked what do you do?:
If attacked by firearm or by direct assault, I would keep distance, but still tail the suspect until they were either caught or the scanner was destroyed. I would take pictures of the suspect repeatedly in an attempt to blind them via the flash, as well as to keep the units up to speed. If critically damaged, I would attempt to steer and crash into the attacker to possibly injure them. (It's what they do in HL2, it's what I do here.)
What is dispatch?:
Dispatch is more or less the Combine version of a radio dispatcher for the police. Based in the Citadel (Or in the local nexus depending on the server), it's automated but acts in mostly the same way a modern day one would. Scanners also speak via dispatch as they don't have a voice.
How does Dispatch work?
: Dispatch is used to send out reports of Anti-Citizen activity to MPF officers and the like. It can do this either via sound or via the MPF unit's HUD built into the mask. Dispatch is also used to send out notifications through the city such as when a Judgement Waiver is active and when rations are available.
If you see a mugging what do you do?:
I would approach the scene and take a photo of it, informing MPF units of the location of the crime. I would then, if the suspect hasn't attempted to escape, inform the citizen that they are in direct violation of law and wait for the MPF units to arrive. Should the suspect attempt to escape, I would notify MPF Units first, then pursue and keep the pursuing units up to speed.
Do you know ALL - Codes, Conduct, Verdict codes, Radio Codes, Violations, Rules perfectly in the MPF/OTA and Citizens?:
I find this to be a trick question, unfortunately. I can't say yes as that would be blatant lying, as well as impossible. To remember every single rule, violation, radio code ect would be to have the memory of some sort of hyper-Elephant. I do know the most basic ones that are used all the time but to remember them all would be near impossible.
Explain what a Scanner is:
A Scanner is an automated drone of the Combine designed to watch over the citizens in the manner that humanoids like Civil Protection cannot, they are mostly used for common street crimes rather than full resistance attacks, though this is not unheard of. They are used to scan areas such as rooftops and streets, hence the name.
Write a 12 line minimum RP example as a scanner:
(Apologies for not using the correct names but I do not know how Scanner names are composed ((It has been a year)), so I will just use Scanner for this example.)
-Scanner is floating through the streets of City 13 when it spots two citizens in an alleyway-
Scanner enters the alleyway, observing the oddly dressed citizens.
John Clain says: "Shit, Scanner!"
Scanner says: "CITIZEN. YOU ARE IN VIOLATION OF UNIVERSAL UNION CLOTHING AND AUDIO RESTRICTION."
Sam Aliin pulls out his 9mm Pistol, aiming at the Scanner's central camera
Scanner turns to the armed citizen, making several sudden beeping noises before taking a picture, shooting a bright ray of light at the citizen
Sam Aliin flinches at the sudden light, panicking and firing two shots. One misses, the other hitting the Scanner's side plating.
Scanner backs up, keeping a good few meters away from it and the citizens.
Scanner radios in: "SCANNER UNIT UNDER ASSAULT FROM ARMED CITIZEN. LOCATION: PLAZA, ALLEYWAY."
John Clain takes off running further into the alleyway.
Sam Aliin gets his bearings from the flash, following John down the alley.
Scanner pursues the citizens, all the while taking pictures.
MPF-01.UNION.31849 Enters the alleyway, raising his pistol to fire at the fleeing citizens, but misses all four shots due to their distance and runs down the alley.
John Clain runs into the warehouse, holding the door open for Sam.
Sam Aliin runs into the warehouse, firing two failed shots at the pursuing Officer.
